Six Bradford Bulls players are hoping for a double celebration - their birthdays and a Tetley's Super League Grand Final victory over Wigan at Old Trafford on Saturday.

Back row Mike Forshaw was 31 on October 5, centre Leon Pryce was 20 three days ago, hooker James Lowes is 32 today, centre Graham Mackay is 33 tomorrow, second row Daniel Gartner becomes 29 next Monday, and giant prop Paul Anderson is 30 on the 25th.

And Mackay began the celebrations early by pushing team-mate Pryce's head straight into the giant cake!

The young winger said: "Hopefully it will be a month to remember. With so many of the lads having birthdays around the Grand Final, we've cancelled all the celebrations for now - apart from the Tetley's cake! Hopefully they can all begin on Saturday night."

Gareth Roberts, Tetley's sponsorship manager, added: "With the Bradford players hard in training for the Grand Final, we wanted to offer them the chance to let their hair down, and it seems they did that!"

Bulls might have won the Minor Premiership and won through to the Grand Final at the first attempt, but Forshaw warned that last weekend's Australian NRL final should serve as a warning to the Bulls.

"We go into the game very confident - we go into every game very confident - but we will have to control the ball," said the Wigan-born pack stalwart.

He added: "We have been playing well at the right times, but you only have to look across the sea to favourites Parramatta (who lost 30-24 to Newcastle Knights) to see what can happen. We hope to avoid something like that, but it all points to a tight match."

Bulls still have about 1,000 Grand Final tickets to sell, and they can be bought from their Odsal office until 12.30pm tomorrow, or they can be ordered from Super League on 0113-244-1114.

Abi Ekoku, Bulls' chief executive, said the club have sold 15,000 tickets so far.

He said: "I want to thank fans for the way that they have responded. We had an initial allocation of 12,000 tickets, and have since had two extra lots of 2,000. Hopefully we will now outnumber Wigan fans at Old Trafford - that would be fantastic."
