A VILLAGE school went back to the Swinging Sixties to celebrate its 40th birthday.
Bramhope Primary School celebrated its 40th year on Tredgold Crescent last Friday with an open day.
Guest of honour at the celebration was Leeds United chairman Peter Ridsdale, who was appearing in his capacity as head of Education Leeds.
Mr Ridsdale helped to record the next chapter in the school's history, by opening its new state-of-the-art computer suite on the premises.
Staff and pupils dressed up in 60s-style clothes, and anyone who once attended or worked at the school was invited back for a look around.
The school orchestra put on a musical performance, and pupils from Prince Henry's Grammar School, Otley, came to sing some 60s music.
The day ended with a 60s disco for the children.
