The water crisis came to an official end in the Bradford area today when the Western Division of the Yorkshire Water Authority lifted the ban on the use of hosepipes. Stocks in the division's reservoirs are today up to 90 per cent of capacity, well up on the 76 per cent at this time last year, in the dry autumn and winter which started the shortage.

An increase of 38 in the membership of the Bradford Historical and Antiquarian Society (which now has 271 members) was reported in the annual business meeting last night. Officers re-elected: President, the Lord Mayor of Bradford (Ald. Horace Hird); secretary, Mr Geoffrey NT Baxter; treasurer, Mr JH Binns.
