Guiseley have signed striker Nicky Hey from Northern Counties East side Thackley and he will join the squad for Saturday's home game with Ossett Town.

Manager Neil Parsley said: "I have been watching Nicky for a couple of seasons now but he could not join us last year as he had just joined the Fire Brigade.

"I feel that Nicky can improve our striking situation and when Ryan Senior returns there will be some real competition."

Parsley however is not going to sit back and think that Hey is the answer to his problems. He is still looking for another striker with the continued absence through injury of Ryan Senior and he is also looking at another defender.

"I am looking to create competition for places and with the Reserve team now playing well the pressure is on for some players.

"The Reserves have had two excellent results against Morecambe and Southport and although I could not watch them last Saturday due to a death in the family I am aware of how well they played.

"I like to hear that players who have been dropped from the first team have shown a good attitude and I was pleased to hear that was the case with young goalkeeper Tom Morgan.

"I look for a good attitude. Obviously players who are dropped are upset, that is natural, but I expect them to respond in a positive way. I don't want players who when dropped don't give their all for the Reserves.

"The Reserves are now playing an important part in the club and two of their players who were recently elevated to the first team - John Lamb and Peter Sumner - are acquitting themselves really well.

"We are all here to win matches for Guiseley AFC so the attitude of all players is vital whether they be in the first or Reserve team."

Looking forward to Saturday's home game with Ossett Town Parsley said:

" If we can get result on Saturday I think the tide will be starting to turn. We were happy with the points at Matlock last Friday and now we have to build on that.

"Clive Freeman will train on Thursday night and hopefully his ankle strain will have improved. Gary Strodder's is an old injury and of course Ryan Senior has still not recovered from the injury against Eccleshill. He looks to be going to be out for another three weeks at least.

"Andy Shuttleworth should also be back in contention so we are looking to pick up some points now and move forward," said Parsley.
