Keighley Town's revamped Under-15 side turned in a stunning second half performance, but just could not recover after a sluggish start.
Ovenden secured a 26-20 victory after racing to a 16-4 first half lead. A lively second half, brought about by Town's reaction to an aggressive Ovenden side brought Town back to within a score of earning a point from last season's Premier League outfit.
Town's Ben Woollard scored a typical forward's try, barging over the line, and Gavin Duffy bagged the remaining 16 points from scrum half with three tries and two goals.
