ANDY McLENNON slid home the opening goal as Silsden gave warning that they mean business in the County Cup.
McLennon's opener paved the way for a 5-0 victory over Snydale Athletic in the first round of the competition. The Cobbydalers were 2-0 up at the break with Gavin Finn adding the second.
Mick Ward continued the one-way traffic with Michael Rosser and Andy Holden completing a good afternoon's work.
Keighley Shamrocks also made it through to the second round with a 3-2 victory over Beckwithshaw. Paul Driver scored two and Howard Wellwood was also on target.
Phoenix ran into the might of Otley Town, going down 4-1 in one of the toughest of the first round ties.
Manager Kev Maddocks had brought Ben Furness into central defence to cover for the injured Martin Crangle and Danny Spencer returned to left back after his lengthy suspension.
Phoenix applied all the pressure and there were loud claims for a penalty when Joe Bryceland was fouled in the area but the referee waved play on.
The Keighley side took the lead through Craig Labbett after a neat flick on from Johnny Lawrence found Mick Gilmartin who supplied a precise through ball. After leading at the break they let in two sloppy goals and never looked like recovering. Two further goals were added without reply, although their was an element of luck in the final effort.
In the Challenge Trophy Shamrocks Reserves just missed out, going down 4-3 to Churwell Lions in a thrilling encounter.
Cowling were beaten 4-0 by Sarsden Reserves, but Steeton Reserves pulled out all the stops with a 7-1 victory over Ossett CR Reserves. Steeton scor3ers were J Gill (3), S Cowley, J Proctor, D Whiteoak and D Gaudiosi.
Phoenix Reserves stepped up to second place in Reserve Division One following their 3-1 victory over Littletown. Phoenix goals were scored by C Smith, T Hird and M Thompson.
Silsden Reserves are clear at the top of Reserve Division Two, while Steeton have two games in hand in second place. Silsden secured a 4-4 draw with Dudley Hill Rangers.
