A tiler fed up after a deal for his dream house fell through picked himself up by buying a lottery ticket - and netted a fortune.

Now Michael Fisher and his mate Peter Kennedy are planning to celebrate with a night on the tiles after their five numbers and the bonus ball enabled them to scoop £122,000 - enough cash for Peter to buy an even bigger home.

The ceramic tile fitter, from Bradford, said: "I have just moved out of my house but the deal on the property I was hoping to buy fell through, so I am homeless!

"The win means that I can afford to buy a larger house. People say everything happens for a reason and now I really believe that it does."

Michael won £122,451 in the draw on Wednesday, October 10, and will be sharing the money with his work colleague Peter who helped stump up the cash for the ticket.

The pair, whose work takes them all over the country, discovered the streets of London were literally paved with gold, when they chose to buy a National Lottery ticket in the capital.

They had been working in London on a short-term contract, when Michael decided to try his luck on the lottery.

Little did he know that the newsagents' shop in Wembley would make his fortunes change for the bette., Now everything has slotted into place for Michael and the win means he will not be homeless for long.

The 46-year-old will be sharing his winnings with friend Peter, who plans to take his time deciding what to spend it on.

Peter, 61, of Garforth in Leeds, said: "We couldn't believe our luck when we realised we had matched five numbers and the bonus ball. We haven't even had time to celebrate properly because as soon as we knew we had won, we were straight back up the road to Yorkshire for the weekend."

And the numbers 18, 26, 28, 30, 38, 46 and 25 will hold a special place in Michael's and Peter's heart from now on.
