Big traffic jams built up in the centre of Bradford today as motorists struggled to work on the first day of the new road system. Tempers rose as the queues lengthened. Problem areas were not only in Hall Ings and Bank Street, where the changes are, but on roads around the city centre. One blackspot was the Manchester Road/Croft Street roundabout which was solidly jammed.

From 10 September to 15 October, a total of 56 permanent houses were completed in Bradford, the Corporation Housing Sub-committee was told today. The grand total completed since the war was 1,851, said the chairman , Coun. R.C.Ruth. "I am pleased with the speed with which new contracts are being completed" he said.
