A man was recovering today after being found lying unconscious in a Baildon field.
Police sealed off the area when the man was found by two people walking to work early yesterday.
David Fawcett and Annette Smith were unable to wake the unconscious man, who is thought to have been suffering from the effects of alcohol.
Mr Fawcett, 41, a postman from Baildon, said: "We thought it was just a pile of clothes at first but as we got nearer you could hear a snoring sound. He had blood on his nose, was saturated from the rain and was really cold but we couldn't wake him up.''
Bakery worker Annette Smith, 50, added: "He looked in a really bad way and we knew he needed to get to hospital.''
The man, who is in his 20s, was taken by ambulance to Bradford Royal Infirmary.
Police said the incident was not being treated as suspicious, adding the man was now recovering.
The scene - between Thirlmere Grove and the River Aire - remained sealed off for around ten hours.
