Police are hunting a hit and run driver who killed a man last night.
The victim, thought to be in his early 20s, was walking at the junction of Barkerend Road and Barlow Street close to Bradford city centre at about 10.20pm.
He was struck by a Volkswagen Passat car which was travelling down Barkerend Road towards the city centre and failed to stop.
The man, who suffered multiple injuries, was taken to Bradford Royal Infirmary where he was pronounced dead on arrival. Inquiries were continuing today to identify him.
The road was closed until early today while police officers carried out investigations at the scene.
Shagusta Malik, who lives just off Barkerend Road, said: "All I could see was that he was a young white man and he looked in a very bad way at the time."
Police appealed for anyone who was in the Barkerend area at the time of the accident to contact 0845 6060 606 and ask for the Bradford South traffic department.
