The Craven & District Junior Cricket Association recently held its annual presentation for the Joe Lumb and Lord's Taverners competitions, at Keighley Rugby Club.
The players, parents and other guests were welcomed by the chairman of the Association, Frank Gledhill who thanked the committee, coaches, umpires, sponsors, clubs making available their facilities, and parents for their help and support.
Reports on a busy and generally successful 2001 season were made by the respective team managers - Graham Binns for the Lord's Taverners U13s, Kelvin Doane for the U15s, and David Birks for the Joe Lumb competition. The prizes were presented by guest speaker,Philip Ackroyd, chairman of the Yorkshire Lord's Taverners and Joe Lumb competitions.
The Lord's Taverners prizewinners were: U13 batting , Chris Baines; U13 bowling, Philip Binner; U13 merit ( John Hindle Memorial Cup, presented by Mrs Hindle and her grandson, Matthew), James Freebury; U15 batting, James Tillotson; U15 bowling, Will Roberts; U15 merit (Arthur Spink Memorial Cup), Graham Rishton. The Joe Lumb Competition prizewinners were: batting, John Wildman; bowling, Alex Towler; merit, captain Chris Meehan.
Certificates were presented to all members of the squads. The President of the Association, Hugh Stephenson, gave the vote of thanks.
