SUZUKI off-roader Darren Wilson got a result in the latest championship round. He made it three wins from as many outings in the Comp Safari series -- and sold his jeep.

The KAP garage boss from Steeton put his machine up for sale on the morning of the competition at South Milford near Leeds.

"I'd sold it by dinner-time but still had to go out in the afternoon and race it," he said.

"I didn't want to take a deposit off the guy at the time but as soon as I got through the finishing line he was down with his money."

Darren has achieved his goal of getting his Suzuki conversions noticed with orders coming in from across the country.

He is to move up next year to a bigger class with a 200bhp rear-engined Jimny. "Out of all the Safari vehicles this year I've come 11th overall from 47 competitors and I've had the smallest engine.

"In the Jimny we're aiming to get in the top five."

Now based at premises in Beecher Street, Stockbridge, he will be backed by the same co-driver and mechanic, Paul Short and Andy Townson. His sights are set on doing the Scottish and Welsh hill rallies which involve day and night stages.
