Guiseley joined neighbours Bradford Park Avenue at the top of the UniBond League Challenge Cup Group Three table last night after a 2-1 home win over Harrogate Town.
They enjoyed a comfortable 2-1 victory over Division One rivals Harrogate at Nethermoor after beating Premier Division Whitby Town 2-1 in their only other group game so far.
By strange coincidence the same two scorers at Whitlby were on target, Kevin Newhouse and a spot kick from Mark Stuart.
Guiseley were forced to come from behind at Whitby but there were no need for such heroics against Harrogate at Nethermoor last night.
It was Newhouse who was brought down in the visitor's area in the 16th minute and Stuart confidently despatched the penalty. Newhouse then netted the second in the 26th minute with a low shot that went in off the post.
The second half was poor fare in comparison and provided little other than Scott Bonsall's late consolation for Harrogate as he fired in a shot through a crowd of players in the area in the final minute.
Bradford Park Avenue have confirmed their next game in the competition, scheduled for tomorrow night (Wednesday) at Gateshead, has been postponed. The Geordie side have to fit in a Durham County Cup first round tie against West Auckland Town, which takes precedence.
One team that will be in UniBond League Challenge Cup group action this week is Farsley Celtic as the Division One club head for a clash with Premier Division Whitby Town tonight.
Farsley Celtic (from); Sutcliffe, Brooker, Cuthbertson, Shaw, Stevenson, Gray, Shields, Place, Hepworth, Henderson, Newton, Regan, Smith, Lamb.
