Marksman Alan Robertshaw, commercial photographer for the Telegraph and Argus, gained top honours for the second year during a shooting competition for Pressmen, held by the 1st Battalion, Yorkshire Volunteers, at Strensall, near York. The Telegraph and Argus team consisting of the editor, Mr. Arnold Hadwin, photographers Alan Robertshaw and Michael Chuck and reporter Peter Dobbie were runners up in a team shooting event.

Is there any chance of the very high figures of the 1950 election being surpassed ? Those are questions everyone is asking. The keen interest in meetings during the campaign, and the prospect of fair weather tomorrow, means that the poll will be high.
