Midfielder Scott Bairstow is set to make a belated comeback for Bradford Park Avenue tomorrow in their UniBond Premier Division clash with Droylsden at Horsfall Stadium.
Bairstow, a former-Bradford City Youth who was with Avenue when they won promotion to the UniBond five years ago, was expected to return from Harrogate Town a fortnight ago but the deal hit problems.
Assistant mananger Ian Thompson said: "We have finally completed the transfer of Scott and he will be in the squad for the Droylsden game.
"Another Saturday brings another tough game but we really need three points tomorrow because we dropped back into the bottom three last week. Two wins will take us up to 15 points and we are right back in the pack then."
It will be difficult for Avenue, however. After 15 games the Manchester outfit have a 15-point lead over the Bradford side and enjoy a lofty eighth spot in the league. They will be looking to avenge Avenue's 3-2 success in this season's FA Cup.
Droylsden have had the upper hand in past matches. In the dozen games between the sides Avenue have won only twice.
Skipper Mark Hancock begins a three-game ban for the sending off at Marine in the FA Cup round after the Droylsden win, and utility man Martin James is struggling with a back injury.
In Division One Guiseley host much-improved Kendal Town, Avenue's opponents next Saturday in the first round of the FA Umbro Trophy.
Mid-table Guiseley are still five points clear of Kendal but such is the Cumbrians' run that they have overtaken four sides in the last month.
Player manager Neil Parsley is back in the squad after an ankle injury, former Huddersfield Town defender Simon Trevitt is also back after missing two games with similar trouble and striker Nick Hey is back in contention following a groin strain.
Farsley Celtic complete a treble of home games for the area's representatives and make it a Leeds/Cumbria double by taking on Kendal's closest rivals Workington at Throstle Nest.
Celtic had a free week after their proposed midweek league cup group game at Whitby Town was postponed but they could not do any extra training because of second team and reserve fixtures at their ground. Club captain Paul Stevenson, recovered from knee-ligament damage, is standing by to lead the team tomorrow.
Eccleshill United are the only one of the three local sides to have home advantage in the Northern Counties East Premier division this weekend and are preparing for a visit from Hallam.
Winger Mark Burnham is a surprise inclusion to the squad but former Bradford City youth Adam Hardy is not available for United.
Thackley travel to Derbyshire to face Alfreton Town. Utility-player Dave Nelson is promoted from the Academy side for his first outing with the senior squad and Pav Singh, a striker on loan from neighbouring Farsley Celtic, is available after being cup-tied for last Saturday's FA Carlsberg Vase defeat.
Liversedge won their first league game of the season last week when they went goal crazy to beat Borrowash Victoria 6-3. That win took them off the foot of the table because Glasshoughton Welfare lost.
Tomorrow takes Sedge to Glasshoughton in what even at this stage of the season is a must-win six-point relegation battle. Sedge are hoping to sign centre-back Richard Walker from UniBond Premier outfit Emley but he may not arrive in time for tomorrow.
