Most clubs were involved in district cup games allowing Cowling Reserves to step up to second place in Division Three.

They claimed their fifth win in six matches with a 3-1 victory at Pendle Athletic. Cowling played confidently and took a 2-0 interval lead with both goals coming from Josh McNee.

Athletic pulled a goal back through Paul Crew as Cowling relaxed, but they raised their game again to clinch victory with a Bob Matthews goal after good work from James Complin.

Unbeaten Division Three leaders McBrides have won all six games and took the scalp of Cononley Reserves with 7-3 victory last weekend. Paul Clarke scored a hat-trick, Roger Norman netted twice and Thomas Fallows and Michael McGowan also scored after Cononley had gone 2-0 ahead with goals from George Bayliss and Rob Scarr.

Sam Akrigg scored Cononley's third to level the scores at the break, but McBrides pushed on in the second-half and would have had more but for some heroic goal-keeping from Dale Mason.

In Division Two Intake were emphatic 8-0 victors at home to Gargrave, but the one-sided scoreline did not tell the full story. Gargrave were on level terms after a scoreless first-half and the game moved into the final quarter with the score-sheet still blank.

But once the deadlock was broken the floodgates opened. Simon Kitchen floated over a cross which crept into the top corner to set off an avalanche of goals.

Gareth Christopher claimed a hat-trick in five minutes, Mark Roberts added two and both Russell Smith and Miles Holt joined in the goal spree.

Barnoldswick United also fought out a scoreless first-half in their home game against the Shepherds Inn from Colne, but they finally broke the stalemate with a penalty by Daniel Payton on 75 minutes. That goal gave United the upper hand and Matthew Robinson added a second before Payton netted his second two minutes from time.

In Division Two, Horton and Oxenhope Recreation Reserves were level at 1-1 at the interval, but the home side found their form in the second-half to run out 4-1 winners. The visitors missed golden chances before the break, although a Lee Rhodes penalty put them level after Mark Harris had opened the scoring for Horton.

The second-half brought a much more purposeful display from Horton, Ben Pilkington putting them ahead with a great solo run and equally good finish with Thomas Huddleston and James Heaton completed the scoring.

Barrowford's superior work in front of goal was the difference between the sides when they beat Bradley 3-0. Bradley were always in the game despite being 2-0 behind the half-time but whereas Christopher Knox and Simon Plant (2) found the mark for the winners, Bradley could not get the ball in the net.

Referee Blair earned a special mention in despatches for his role in a 2-2 draw between Ingleton and Waddington. Craig Dixon and Graham Cowgill scored for Ingleton, with Andrew Read and Wayne Boothman replying. Waddington were left to regret the first-half chances that eluded them.
