Otley duo Simon Binns and Phil Greaves are hoping to be at their Sunday best tomorrow for a National League XV against the Australian tourists at Leicester.

Former Bradford Grammar School pupil Binns is set to start at fly half, while ex-Bees centre or full-back Greaves is on the bench.

Some players turned down the chance to face the tourists, but 23-year-old Greaves, who left Wagon Lane six years ago, can't understand that.

"It is a once in a lifetime opportunity, especially now I've probably missed my chance to play for England," said the back, who has played for Northampton and West Hartlepool in between his two West Yorkshire clubs.

"I realise now I should have stayed at Northampton - even though my first-team chances were limited."

Binns, who helped BGS win a Daily Mail Under-15 Cup final and two Under-18 Cup finals at Twickenham, said: "I am assuming I am starting tomorrow - after all I am the only fly half in the squad!

"It will certainly be one of the biggest matches in my career, although I did play for a hastily-thrown together North team that faced the New Zealand Barbarians at a snow-hit McAlpine Stadium a few years ago."

Binns, who has played for Leicester, Moseley, Rotherham and London Scottish since leaving school, added: "Hopefully we can go out and enjoy it."

It is the first match of Australia's seven-match tour. Coach Eddie Jones wants to build on Australia's already daunting strength in depth so he has a squad of 30 players ready to slot into the Test team.

He will send out a team comprised of established players and a few he wants to take a look at tomorrow at Welford Road.

"We will look at players in a few positions," said Jones, who intends to give everyone a run-out tomorrow and at the game against Oxford University at Iffley Road tomorrow week.

He will field his first-choice Test team for Thursday's inaugural match against Spain in Madrid.

Jones said the players from outside England's top flight will face a strong side tomorrow.

He said: "We are trying to build a squad of 30 who will all be competing strongly for 22 Test places."
