A long-established Ilkley building firm is celebrating after winning £5 million worth of contracts.
Quarmby Construction Company Ltd, which celebrates its 30th anniversary next year, has relied on a mixture of strong bidding skills and its reputation to secure three major deals.
The firm, which has a 45-strong workforce, has already begun work on a £2.3m residential and work units scheme in Chesterfield.
The creation of three industrial units at Knaresborough, worth £2.1m, was due to start today; while the third project, a £600,000 extension to a Jaguar garage in Knaresborough, will begin on November 12.
Managing director for Quarmby, David Jones, said: "We are delighted with securing these contracts, which will all be well under way before Christmas.
"With the Chesterfield deal we won by submitting a competitive tender, which is always satisfying.
"Then with the Jaguar work for Mill Garages, we had already constructed a major showroom for them, and they came back on the strength of that to ask us to supply an extension for their Volvo operation.
"We're looking at some fairly big schemes for next year too, including city centre projects in Bradford and Leeds."
When Mr Jones joined the firm as a project manager 14 years ago, the business was hitting an annual turnover of around £8m.
Quarmby has enjoyed steady growth ever since, and expects to exceed sales of £27m this year.
