The positive work of Bradford's youth was celebrated at a special awards ceremony in the city centre.
Organised by Bradford Council's Youth Service department, the Young People's Achievements Awards were held to honour those young people in Bradford West who have made a positive contribution to the area.
The ceremony was attended by nearly 500 young people and their parents reflecting the cultural mix of the city, a turnout which impressed both organisers and attendees. Councillor Allan Hillary (Lib Dem, Bol-ton), who was at the ceremony said: "I was impressed with the numbers present. It just showed how much was going on behind the scenes. I was so proud for the young people and for their achievements. Bradford is safe in their hands."
200 awards were handed out to 13-21 year olds from the Manningham area for achievements in education, sport, community projects and personal developments.
Ketan Gandhi, youth service area manager for Bradford West, who was involved in organising the event, said: "The night was about saying to those young people and others that they have a positive contribution to make and they are making that contribution."
