Newly-crowned boxing champion Junior Witter must wait a couple of weeks to put on his belt.

The Bradford light-welterweight stormed to the WBU intercontinental title after destroying South African Colin Mayisela inside two rounds.

But Witter was told he would have to wait to get his belt - because it was still being made in America.

He said: "After the fight I was looking for the belt but they told me to do the interviews first. When they were finished I went to see the WBU official at ringside who started apologising.

"He said there had been a delay and the belt was still being finished off. Apparently they have one guy over there who makes all the belts for the WBU, WBF and IBF and he's been really busy lately!

"But they knew about the fight for a fortnight so it's not asking too much when you win a title bout to receive the belt at the end of it.

"Now I've got to wait a couple of weeks before it gets here."

Witter made the quickest possible job of Mayisela on the Manchester bill, which also featured his chief rivals Ricky Hatton and Eamonn Magee.

Witter finished him off after 45 seconds of round two - but TV expert Jim Watt still felt he needed to be "more devastating".

Witter said: "I've stopped my last six now so there's not much more I can do.

"Mayisela was outclassed in there because I'm so good. You can only fight the opponent that's put in front of you."

Witter is now sitting tight waiting for the outcome of next month's British eliminator. He will face the winner, possibly as early as December.

The next step as he waits for Hatton and Magee will be a New Year crack at the European title currently held by German Oktay Urkal.
