A squad of specially-picked detectives has been formed in Bradford to crack down on robberies involving personal violence, muggings and rapes. The eight men are under the direct control of the head of the Bradford area CID, Det. Chief Supt. Ron Sills, and his deputy Supt. Dick Holland. The squad in Bradford, and a similar one in Leeds, are the first in the West Yorkshire area.

From tomorrow pedestrians will have priority over vehicular traffic only at crossings which are not controlled by traffic lights or police - those with "zebra " stripes in addition to the studs and beacons - and will no longer have precedence at controlled crossings, says the Ministry of Transport, announcing the start of new regulations tomorrow.
