Bradford singing sensation Mark Kerins is hoping to reach for the stars - with a Christmas number one.
But he is set for a battle with children's favourites the Tweenies for the top spot.
Mark, of Wyke, has been locked away in recording studios ever since he won the final of BBC TV's Star for a Night, which catapulted him on to the national stage.
He has recorded his own version of a Christmas carol, which he hopes to have in the shops in time for Christmas. Mark, pictured, is keeping the song's title under warps in case his idea is pinched by another artist.
The 24-year-old has quit his job as a baggage loader at Leeds Bradford airport to concentrate on his singing career and has had interest from a number of record companies looking to signing him up.
"I have spruced up a Christmas carol and depending on how soon I get signed it could be released as a Christmas number one contender," Mark said.
But he knows he faces a battle with a more established pop act and the might of the Tweenies.
"It will be hard because I might be up against Robbie Williams and the Tweenies," said Mark.
But now he is intent on making the big time.
"I left the airport last week, and it was quite sad really but I had to make a decision about the job because since winning Star for a Night I don't have time for both.
"I'll still be keeping in touch with all my friends and they said there's always a place for me if I need to come back."
Mark won the prize of supporting pop idols Steps at Wembley Arena, after he wowed celebrities and public alike with his rendition of Bill Withers' classic Lean On Me.
Despite winning the hearts of the nation, Mark has already found love in the arms of Leeds Bradford airport colleague Katie and now he feels everything is beginning to work out.
"Katie is the best thing that has happened to me and everything seems to be coming together for me now." said Mark.
He was chosen from more than 12,000 applicants to compete for the coveted title in the BBC show hosted by Jane McDonald.
Before his Wembley debut, fans will get the chance to see Mark perform at Penningtons Live nightclub on Thursday, November 15, supporting comic Billy Pearce.
