A WOMAN in her nineties narrowly escaped injury after a stone was thrown through her bedroom window at a Skipton residential home.
It is the third time that Ashfield House on Carleton Road has been attacked this month. On each occasion stones have been thrown through windows.
In the latest incident on Saturday night, the pensioner was asleep directly behind the window, and police say she was lucky not to suffer serious injury.
Audrey Maury, manager of the home, described the attacks as "disgraceful".
She said: "Fortunately the lady was quite confused and wasn't aware of what had happened. Hopefully the police will catch these people, and we are being more vigilant about things."
Catherine Maudsley, locality manager for County Care, also condemned the attacks.
She said in the first two incidents windows were smashed in communal rooms and did not disturb the residents too much. However she was concerned about the latest attack.
"People who live at Ashfield are elderly and for them to have a window put through is quite a shock. Apart from the possibility of them being hurt by glass, the shock can cause a great deal of disturbance and upset," she said.
