Robin Hood Res 1
Baildon Trinity Res 4
Baildon Trinity's home league cup tie against Robin Hood was called off an hour before the kick-off because the visitors could not field a first team.
Bizarrely, they had a full side for the West Yorkshire Reserve League home fixture - a fact which did not please Baildon as several of their players had travelled fair distances to get to the first team game.
Trinity Reserves took the game to league leaders Robin Hood from the start with Steve Pickles on the left particularly prominent in the early stages.
They went ahead with a well taken goal by striker Andy Haran.
However, the visitors then sat back somewhat and Robin Hood equalised, before Lanre Bakare neatly rounded the goalkeeper and slotted a left-foot shot home to restore Baildon's lead before the interval.
In the second-half, Baildon upped their work rate, defended in depth and, slowly but surely, began to control the match.
Central midfielders Ian Firth and John North kept driving them forward, though a third goal was some time in coming.
However, when it did, it was a cracker, Haran firing in a spectacular 25 yarder which rocketed into the roof of the net.
After this Baildon were largely untroubled and before the end Man-of-the-Match Firth headed in a fourth from a cross on the right.
This was an excellent result for Trinity, based on hard work and a willingness to work for each other.
