Mark Viduka has set his sights on a club and country double this month after finding the form which made him a £20million summer target for European giants Real Madrid and AC Milan.
Leeds striker Viduka's equaliser in the 3-2 second leg defeat to Troyes in the UEFA Cup second-round on Thursday night was his sixth of the season - and his fifth in the last six matches.
The former Celtic man is on the kind of hot streak which saw him finish last season as Leeds' 22-goal leading scorer, and the subject of intense speculation about his future less than a year after his £6million move from Glasgow.
But Viduka spurned the overtures of two of the game's biggest names, penning a new deal during the close season as he pledged his allegiance to the Elland Road cause.
The dream of playing in the World Cup, though, now beckons and following tomorrow's home clash with Spurs, Viduka then heads off to Australia for three weeks.
The controversial friendly against France in his home city of Melbourne serves as the warm-up to the two-legged play-off against the fifth-placed team from the South American group, the winner taking the last place in next summer's finals in Japan and South Korea.
But first Viduka is determined to fire Leeds back to the top of the Premier League with a victory over Glenn Hoddle's on-song Spurs side who have won their last four matches.
After three successive league draws, albeit to title rivals Liverpool, Chelsea and Manchester United, Viduka said: "We need to get back to winning ways in the Premier League.
"We've played some very difficult teams in tough games and got away without losing, so it will be good if we can get the three points again.
"It gives us confidence that we've played the top teams and yet we are unbeaten.
"We are all pleased that we didn't lose any of them, although we were all disappointed we didn't win them either.
"But if we are to realise our ambition of getting back into the top three in the Premier League by the end of the season then we have to beat teams like Tottenham, but we can't underestimate them because they are not a bad side.
"They've been playing some good football and it will be great to beat them, but we know if we play our own game we can beat anybody.
"I'm on a little bit of a roll, but that's football. Things can change overnight. It would be great to sign off from Leeds by making it three goals in three games."
Viduka, along with Leeds team-mate Harry Kewell, will then miss three matches - Sunderland and Aston Villa in the league, sandwiching the first leg of the UEFA Cup third-round in Zurich against Grasshopper.
The 26-year-old admits it will be a wrench leaving Leeds at a time when they are on a high, but the potential glory of steering Australia through to the World Cup Finals is too good an opportunity to miss.
"It's going to be a testing month for the boys, but there's nothing Harry and I can do about it," stated Viduka. Getting to the World Cup is something I want to do."
Kewell, though, is doubtful for the Spurs game with a calf injury sustained against Troyes, which could mean a debut for recent £9million signing Seth Johnson on the left side of midfield.
Skipper Rio Ferdinand is hopeful of returning after sustaining a hamstring injury earlier in the week which kept him out against Troyes, but if still sidelined then Jonathan Woodgate will start ahead of Michael Duberry.
Lee Bowyer should also play despite undergoing an operation yesterday to repair his broken nose, the injury sustained following an aerial collision with Nicky Butt in the draw with Manchester United at Old Trafford last weekend.
