Premiership strugglers Southamp-ton have again been linked with David Wetherall.
The City defender was watched by the south-coast side for four successive matches at Valley Parade earlier this season.
Since then Saints have changed managers but new boss Gordon Strachan revived interest as he looks to bring in another centre-half as well as Paul Williams who he took from his old club Coventry last week.
Strachan has said he would like to sign another defender within the next few days.
Southampton are believed to have made discreet inquiries about Wetherall's situation although the Telegraph & Argus understands his recent injury problems may persuade them to look elsewhere.
Wetherall opted to join the Bantams instead of Southampton when he left Leeds two years ago because his family were not keen to uproot from Yorkshire and that could be another factor against any possible move.
Wetherall was not in the City squad for last night's 2-2 draw at Crewe, having missed the midweek home game with Wimbledon through injury.
Bantams boss Jim Jefferies said: "I don't know anything about any speculation with Southampton. I don't know if they've made an offer or not. What I do know is that David got a knock in training and I thought he'd be all right for the Crewe game but he wasn't."
City squandered the chance to make it seven points from nine this week, letting in a soft equaliser with just four minutes left at Gresty Road.
Jefferies said: "I don't think Crewe made a chance from outfield play, we were dealing with everything.
"They've got out of jail getting a point and if it hadn't been for the howler at the end the right result would have been 2-1 to Bradford.
"We lost one goal from a set play and another from a bad mistake when we were under no pressure. But that's been the story - stupid goals have been our trademark recently.
"Coming back like we did against Wimbledon it felt afterwards as if we'd won the game. This time we've drawn again and it feels like we've lost it."
Jefferies sprung a major surprise for the game by dropping goalkeeper Gary Walsh for Aidan Davison.
He said: "Gary's a terrific goalkeeper but we're on a run where we are losing three goals every game. You can see it's not all been Gary's fault but I just felt his confidence was affected a wee bit."
