Bradford's war veterans, wearing their poppies with pride, packed into St George's Hall for the 55th Festival of Remembrance.
Organised by Bradford Council, who took over its running from the Bradford Federation of Ex-Service Associations four years ago, it was attended by The Lord Mayor and Lady Mayoress, Councillor Ghazanfer Khaliq and Shanaz Khaliq.
Also invited to the Service of Remembrance were Ian Stewart, Chief Executive of Bradford Council, Councillor Margaret Eaton, leader of the Council, Councillor Ian Greenwood, leader of the Labour group, Councillor Jeanette Sunderland, leader of the Liberal Democrat group, the Lord Mayor's Chaplain, Sher Azam and the Mayors and Mayoresses of Calderdale and Wakefield.
A solitary poppy wreath hung above the stage as the Belle Vue Symphonic Band performed a number of songs, including a medley taken from Phantom of the Opera. Their performance was followed by a choir performance from Chordiality, accompanied by their musical director, Peter Sherlock.
The Debut Theatre School also performed and Anne Tonks lead the community singing which included the songs We'll meet Again, The White Cliffs of Dover and Land of Hope and Glory.
The evening ended with a parade of the standards and a rendition of Sir Henry Wood's Fantasia of the Sea by the Belle Vue Symphonic Band.
