Two Bradford women have busy days ahead raising money for work to fight cancer. Mrs. Dorothy Burnley, of Idle, is organising a variety show with comedian Charlie Williams as the star. Ron Bairstowm well known for his Radio Leeds dialect broadcasts, is the compere of the event which will raise moet for the Lord Mayor's War on Cancer appeal, and Mrs. Shirley Padgett of Allerton is holding an Autumn Fair at Sandy Lane Baptist Sunday School Hall on November 13.

Work will start within the next fortnight at the new "Remploy" factory at Barnard Road, East Bowling, erected for the employment of disabled men and women. Only a few will be employed at first, pending the arrival of machinery. "About 80 disabled will be employed there, but when most of them will start work depends on when the machinery arrives " Mr. C.F.Llanwarne, Bradford Employment Exchange manager, said today. The factory will pack materials which require special packaging.
