Bradford's new Pop Idol has been lined up for one of the city's biggest honours - switching on the Christmas lights.
Gareth Gates, who got back to his A-level school work this week after sweeping the boards on ITV's Pop Idol show, will be star attraction for the big switch-on on November 29 with pantomime star Billy Pearce.
The 17-year-old said: "I am absolutely thrilled to bits they asked me. I can't believe it. It is such a great honour."
