DIY giant Arnold Laver's is to relocate to new premises in Guiseley, we can reveal.
The timber and DIY chain announced yesterday it is to create a new call-collect centre in Springhead Mills, off Otley Road.
News of the 22,000 square foot development comes after planning permission was given for the conversion of Laver's White Cross site into a fitness club and flats.
Springhead Mills, recently used by a greetings cards manufacturer, is now being developed into a business park.
Work on Laver's new concept centre is expected to start shortly and will hopefully be opened in the Spring next year.
Only the second of its type in the country, the centre will stock timber, sheet materials, building products, hardware and kitchens.
Mark Bower, director and company secretary with the Arnold Laver Group, said: "This is a flourishing site in Guiseley and the ideal location for our new Call Collect depot concept which will incorporate our existing Guiseley builders merchants operation.
"This will be the second in the country following the launch of the first depot at our new national production headquarters at Sheffield.
"We are confident it will prove popular providing a comprehensive range of building materials all available on one site."
l Earlier this month, Leeds City Council gave permission for Cannons Health and Fitness Ltd to convert Laver's current base at the Grade Two listed former tramshed into a £2.5m fitness club and 19 flats.
