Buffalo Bill's wild west circus is coming to Bingley - nearly a century after it was first in town.

Members of Bingley Amateur Operatic Society were amazed to discover that gun-shooter Annie Oakley had appeared in both Bradford and Keighley back in 1903.

Now they hope their production of Annie Get Your Gun, based on the sharp shooting cowgirl's life story, will be a hit.

Chorus member Wendy Baines made the discovery after her daughter gave her a book about Buffalo Bill.

"I was amazed to read that Annie had been here and thousands of people flocked to see the show," she said.

Society member Janet Whitehead said: "According to the book they had to put on special trams to take people to see the show in Keighley.

"Maybe history will repeat itself and we'll attract sell-out audiences at our show."

The production kicks off on Monday, November 12 until Saturday November 17 at the arts centre in Bingley.

Tickets can be booked on Bradford (01274) 567983 from 2pm to 4pm. Wendy Hayes and Wendy Baines are pictured in rehearsals for Annie Get Your Gun
