Whinmoor 2

Otley Town 4

Otley Town travelled to Whinmoor in this West Riding County Challenge Cup second round game and produced their worst performance so far this season. The home team were a very poor outfit and the Otley side seemed to sink to their level.

Although Whinmoor took a shock first minute lead, there was only one outcome to this game.

Otley's first goal came from the outstanding Tom Dixon who cut in from the left hand side to score low at the 'keeper's right hand corner. The second goal came after a cross was poorly cleared to the edge of the box and Dixon followed in at pace to strike the ball into the net for his second.

The ever-improving James Firth scored the third with his left, from a shoulder height volley, after Joe Lunn headed on a free-kick. Otley at this point were much the dominant team and extended their lead after a five pass move saw Lee Grice run on to a through ball which he struck early, leaving the Whinmoor 'keeper with no chance.

With the score at 4-1 at half-time, Otley changed their formation, which obviously did not work and Whinmoor scored the only goal in the second-half, despite a suspicion of off-side.

l This Saturday Otley Town entertain the league leaders and last season's champions, Brighouse Town.(Kick-off 2.15pm).

Otley Town Reserves 5

Hall Lane 2

In the County Trophy Competition Otley Town Reserves convincingly beat Hall Lane, from the Halifax League, despite going a goal behind early in the game.

David Kirkpatrick's speed presented the Hall Lane defence with all sorts of problems and although making several of the goals, missed several chances himself. Dale Gilmartin grabbed himself a rare hat-trick, including the well-headed equaliser.

The evergreen Robert Johnson led well from midfield, scoring a goal that rolled all the way through the visitors' defence. Sean McMurrough was the other goal scorer.

l On Saturday Town's Reserves travel to Pannal Sports. (Kick-off 2.15pm).

Clifford & Bramham 1

Otley Town A 5

Following last week's giant killing success in the Senior Cup, Clifford and Bramham were looking forward to a repeat performance against Town's third team.

Unfortunately they came up against a Town side who put in their best performance of the season, gaining their first away victory albeit in the Cup.

From the kick-off it was Town who played the best football and after missing a few chances early on, it came as no surprise when Alderson opened the scoring with a smart finish after good work by Morgan.

Town went further ahead after a good passing movement enabled Morgan to beat the 'keeper with a strong shot making it 2-0 at half-time.

Clifford and Bramham came out strongly at the start of the second-half and put Town's defence under pressure but the back four of Bailey, Wilson, Conway and Morley held firm, restricting their opponents to long range efforts that did not trouble the Town 'keeper.

As the opposition tried to get the goal they badly needed to get back into the game, Town counter-attacked at every opportunity and scored at will, with Morgan scoring a further three goals to take his tally for the game to a total of four.

Town's midfield worked very hard throughout the game but Clifford and Bramham got a consolation goal direct from a free-kick, when a strong shot whistled into the Town net from 35 yards, with the 'keeper rooted to the spot.

Town dominated their opponents all over the park and this victory will hopefully give the youngsters in the team confidence for their future away fixtures.

l On Saturday Town A return to league action at Masham. (Meet at the club at 12.15 pm).
