DISAPPOINTED but not downhearted. That was Guiseley AFC manager Neil Parsley after his side's exit from the Umbro FA Trophy on Tuesday night at Stafford Rangers following their battling 0-0 draw at Nethermoor on Saturday.

Parsley had just witnessed his beleagured side lose a 2-1 lead to go out of the competition 4-2 to two late goals.

Parsley was hardly able to select from strength for the game with seven players unavailable due to injury, suspension and work commitments. His players however did much to be proud of over the two games.

He said: "I am disappointed to go out but I am also quite proud of my players. These two games against Stafford Rangers - a Premier Division Dr Marten's League side - show just what strides we are making although we are by no means the finished article.

"I feel that we have made great strides this season and even when results were going against us earlier in the season the level of performance was improving.

"It is back to battling for league points now and we will be trying to build up another little run after losing our unbeaten record at Stafford.

"We have some games coming up against sides below us in the UniBond and we have to capitalise on these in the period leading up to Christmas.

"Hopefully Ryan Senior will be back with us before long. He is hoping to have a 15 minute run with the Reserves on Saturday and hopefully his confidence will build from there. It was an horrific injury he suffered and it is easy does it with him after an injury of that magnitude. He is now on the right lines however and hopefully it will not be too long before he rejoins the first team squad."

Shuttleworth will be back with the first team on Saturday after a one match suspension and Daly may have recovered from his calf injury although Trevitt and Phillips will not be back in contention.
