Keighley II 34
Kirby Lonsdale II 10
Changes to the second string brought a different attitude -- with skipper Martin Uren demanding 100 per cent effort.
Martin Whitcombe, Paul Sinfield and Simon Atkin were brought into the pack and they hammered the Kirby side with some battering runs.
After softening up the opposition Atkin strolled in virtually unopposed for the first try with Duncan Grant adding the conversion to his earlier penalty. Sinfield showed the value of forward power when he burst through from a tap penalty for the second try with Grant again tagging on the extra points.
Kirby got on the board with a penalty late in the half.
After the re-start Pete Schofield drove over for a try with Grant's conversion stretching Keighley's lead to 24-3. Kirby looked a well beaten side when Sinfield launched a length of the field move taken up by Neil Scott and finished off with a blind side burst from Martin Uren.
The visitors scored a converted try and briefly looked to fight back but Chris Watts produced an impressive cover tackle to stop a second try and went on to stroll over for the final try with Grant's conversion securing an impressive win.
Tomorrow's game against Dinnington, South Yorkshire's leading team, should be a tougher test but victory is not beyond this experienced team.
