Heckmondwike's proposed new sports club took a step nearer to becoming a reality when an artist's impression of the new building was placed on display at Heckmondwike Cricket Club. Work is expected to begin within a few months. Final plans have been submitted to Kirklees, and approval for financial aid has already been given by the Yorkshire and Humberside Sports Council, Kirklees Council, and two breweries.

The Bronte Parsonage Museum at Haworth had 43,892 visitors during 1951 - about 5,000 fewer than in the previous year. They came from more than 50 countries including India, Pakistan, Poland, Turkey, Egypt, Finland, Hungary, Czecho-slovakia, Austria, Argentina, China and Malaya. On the first day of 1952, nearly 30 enthusiasts, despite snow, sleet and icy winds, visited the museum.
