Cancer research in Bradford is set to benefit thanks to the Telegraph & Argus's website.
The award-winning website - www.thisisbradford.co.uk - scooped the United Kingdom website of the year title in the BT Press and Media annual awards for press and broadcast media.
David Behrens, digital content editor at the Telegraph & Argus, decided to nominate the Telegraph & Argus's Bradford Can... Cancer Research Appeal as the charity to benefit from the £1,000 prize.
Anne Crowther, media and PR manager for BT, was on hand to pass the cheque to David, who in turn passed it to Bradford Can... appeal director, Gille Andrews.
"It is the most important appeal in Bradford this year which is being supported by the T&A," he said. "I am delighted to be able to boost it's coffers."
Gille Andrews, of Bradford Can...said: "It is a nice boost. Every penny counts when it comes to cancer research.
"Every single bit of money we raise puts a smile on our face."
The appeal aims to raise £1m for cancer research in Bradford, which will in turn trigger a further £5m of funding from The Cancer Research Campaign.
It will fund pioneering research at The Cancer Research Unit in Bradford and also trials of anti-cancer drugs at Bradford Royal Infirmary.
In West Yorkshire alone there are more than 10,600 new cancer cases each year and more than 20 per cent of patients come from the Bradford district.
Bradford Can...aims to make a real difference to the lives of cancer sufferers by putting all funds raised to excellent use in the fight against the disease.
