Nicky Law gets a second bite at the FA Cup tomorrow - providing the wintry weather relents.
Walsall were having a look at the Bescot Stadium pitch this afternoon to see if there was a chance of saving the third-round tie with the Bantams.
If the game survives, and local forecasts are not hopeful, then new City boss Law will be handed his second crack at this season's competition.
He said: "I suppose I should be cup-tied after Chesterfield had a disastrous loss at Southend. We should have done the job at home but didn't and were awful down there in the replay.
"I've never done anything really brilliant in the Cup. I left Chesterfield at the start of the season they reached the semi-finals - the furthest I've gone was the fifth round at Barnsley when we lost 4-0 to Liverpool.
"It seems a bit strange being back in but when the situation is at it has been at Bradford, the Cup can take the pressure off a bit. We've lost four on the trot and that has got to be put right as soon as we can. Then we can build up a bit of momentum."
Law's first few days with the players have been restricted to sessions in the gym and on an artificial training pitch.
"We've got to prepare as if it's going to be on. It's been difficult but it gives you the chance to get to know everyone.
"You find out the character of the players and the spirit seems to be brilliant which is promising. There are a lot of big-name players with big reputations here but they get on with the workload, do what you ask and there's no moaning.
"I'm surprised with the position we're in but there is obviously something wrong. Whether that was the mood of the previous management I don't know. I can't comment, it's only things that have been said to me."
Walsall will give the pitch as long as possible to thaw and were using blowers to melt the icy surface. If the game is postponed, it will be rescheduled for the replay date of Tuesday, January 15.
Reserve-team boss Walter Kidd, the last member of Jim Jefferies' senior coaching staff, left the club yesterday.
City's home game against Manchester City has been moved forward to Friday, March 8 to be shown live on ITV Digital.
