STAND-IN Cougar coach Paul Moses faces a selection headache for the home game against Doncaster on Sunday.
Moses, who has taken over the job-share role as coach with Alan Boothroyd, was facing the prospect of trying to find some on-loan players to fill the gaps left by injuries.
"We are down to the bare bones at the moment. Phil Stephenson and Danny Fearon are both extremely doubtful and it could mean that we have to find some replacements,'' he said .
The former player, who has been with Cougars for over 10 years, has approached Halifax Blue Sox for help.
"I have spoken to their coach Steve Linnane in the hope that he can release a couple of players.''
Moses has been with Keighley well over a decade, both as player and assistant coach and would relish the opportunity to prove his worth on a more permanent basis.
Doncaster have secured the loan of Halifax second rower Jamie Thackray for Sunday's game and he could take over from Craig Laughton in the pack.
Keighley officials hope a forecast change in the weather will allow the frozen pitch to thaw an allow the game to go ahead.
"We are not in a position where we need the money, but after missing the Boxing Day fixture against Gateshead it would be good to get a home game," said chairman, Neil Spencer.
Moses would relish the opportunity to take on the senior coaching role, and club chairman Neil Spencer was due to hold talks with the former player last night, but no immediate decision will be made.
"I want to hear what Paul has to say, and also find out who else is interested. Ideally we want to build a local team with a local coach," he said.
Former Keighley player and ex-Albion coach Gary Moorby, who is currently on the coaching staff at Halifax, could also be in the frame. He played at the top of rugby league with Leeds and St Helens and for many years has felt he has a lot to contribute.
He also worked closely with Paul Moses with the Keighley amateur club and has often expressed a desire to return to the home town club where he started his professional career.
