Bradford's James Wattana saw his season take a turn for the better when he qualified for the final stages of the Regal Welsh Open.
The twice former world semi-finalist, who is down to 32 in the world rankings, defeated Robert Milkins 5-3 in the final qualifying round at the Meadowside Leisure Centre in Burton-on-Trent.
The Thai, 32 next Thursday, now faces former world champion Ken Doherty at Cardiff International Arena later this month.
Mick Cockroft made a victorious debut for Bradford's billiards team in the Yorkshire Inter-District League.
A late call-up because Steve Wilman was working, he soon made a break of 37 against Jack Broadbent of Hudders-field No 2 at Moldgreen Liberal Club, and went on to win 200-134. Stephen Ker-shaw added to that with an effort of 32 in defeating Frank Griffin 200-106, and Paul Devitt completed the 7-0 whitewash, making a break of 53 in beating John Ingleby 200-146.
Sajid Khan was the hero for the snooker team, who drew 3-3 against Sheffield No 2 at the 147 Snooker Club.
He had a 46 and 36 in the last frame as Wayne Greenwood was beaten 61-25, 99-4 to earn the visitors a point. Earlier Kevin Firth drew 32-77, 67-25 with David Dalton, and Howard Mawson lost 70-39, 71(63)-33 to Peter Bardsley.
