WHARFEDALE clubs are looking forward to the Airedale International sponsored Wharfedale FA Challenge Cup semi-finals later this month.
On Saturday, January 19, Rawdon Old Boys will entertain Pool AFC in one semi-final while cup holders Horsforth St Margaret's will entertain the surprise packet of the last round Burley Trojans. The matches will kick-off at 1.30 pm. There will be extra-time and penalties if necessary.
In the quarter-finals Harrogate League side Burley Trojans had a surprise 3-2 win over West Riding County Amateur League side Otley Town.
Trojans' goals came from Grant Dyson and Chris Connolly (2) while Joe Lunn and Lee Grice scored for Town.
Rawdon Old Boys triumphed 3-2 over Ventus Yeadon Celtic thanks to strikes from Darren Auton, Stuart Clarke and an own goal.
Pool had an amazing 7-5 triumph over a battling Addingham with Shaun Joyce netting a hat-trick and other goals coming from James Ramsey (2), Gerard Studds and James Taylor.
West Yorkshire League side Horsforth St. Margaret's had a 4-1 win over fellow West Yorkshire League side Baildon Trinity Athletic.
Their goals came from Elliott Beddard, Richard Ramsden, Darren Hamer and Richard Smith.
In the first round St Margaret's had enjoyed a 3-0 win over Guiseley Reserves, Otley Town had hammered Ilkley AFC 7-1, Baildon Trinity Athletic defeated Harrogate League side Yew Tree 5-2, Ventus Yeadon Celtic beat Menston Rangers 6-4, Pool defeated Park Row Associates 5-0, Addingham defeated Salts Old Boys 6-3 and Rawdon Old Boys won 5-1 at Bramhope.
The draw for the Wharfedale FA Sunday Challenge Cup semi-finals to be played on Sunday, January 20, are Park Rangers Yeadon v Horsforth Rangers, Rawdon AFC v Yeadon Westfield. Kick-off 11 am with extra-time and penal;ties if necessary.
In the quarter-finals Rawdon Old Boys drew 1-1 with neighbours Rawdon AFC after extra-time with Rawdon AFC winning 4-1 on penalties.
Vesper Gate fell 4-1 to visitors Horsforth Rangers, Hawkhill were beaten 6-3 by Yeadon side Park Rangers, Yeadon Westfield had an easy 7-2 win over Ilkley side Wheatley.
In the second round Hawkhill triumphed 6-2 over Horsforth Fleece. Rawdon AFC had a 2-1 win over Ilkley side Olicanian Academicals.
Horsforth Rangers had an emphatic 8-1 win over Otley Wharfeside and Rawdon Old Boys had a 3-1 win over Ilkley Dynamo.
Park Rangers had a 9-2 victory over Regent Victoria, Baildon Trinity Athletic went down 1-0 to Vesper Gate and Yeadon Westfield beat local rivals Crown Celtic 5-1.
Another Yeadon side Yeadon Town crashed out 6-4 after extra-time to Wheatley.
Ventus United were dismissed from the competition for playing two ineligible players.
First round results were: Shipley Town 4, Yeadon Westfield 4; Westfield won 4-3 on penalties; Rawdon AFC 5, Menston AFC 0; Regent Victoria 4, AFC Fox 4; Regent won 5-4 on penalties, Baildon New Inn 3, Otley Wharfeside 4; Horsforth Fleece 5, Baildon Angel 3; Ventus United 4, Yeadon Town 3; Shoulder of Mutton 3, Vesper Gate 5; Station Wanderers 4, Olicanian Academicals 5 (after extra-time).
