A petrol company is offering a £1,000 reward after a robbery at a Total filling station in Bradford.
The cashier at the Toller Lane garage was stunned after a man threw chilli powder into his face and jumped over the counter to steal cash from the till.
Police say the suspect walked into the shop at around 5.35pm on December 29 and asked the cashier for cigarettes.
But when he was passed a packet of cigarettes, the manreached into his coat pocket and threw chilli powder into the cashier's face, causing his eyes to sting and water.
The man, who is described as Asian, around 18 years old, 5ft 10in and slim, ran out of a fire door. He was wearing a two-tone dark and light blue hooded top, dark baseball cap and a scarf over his face.
The Total company has offered a £1,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the offender.
Ian Woodcock, regional business manager, said the company has introduced the policy to crack down on forecourt crime.
"We are working with the police and are determined to stamp this out by sending a message to everybody that this will not be tolerated," he said.
Anyone who can help should contact DC Ian Lawrance of Bradford North CID on (01274) 376085.
