Albion Sports' great love affair with the FA Umbro Sunday Cup continues.
The Alliance champions completed a hat-trick of wins on Merseyside following a tense fourth-round penalty shoot out at Birkenhead after 120 minutes of football had seen Nicosia and Albion share six goals.
Albion skipper Richard Clarke made amends for giving away a penalty by heading in a first-half equaliser and in the first attack of the second half Stefan Zoll, who Nicosia found difficult to hold throughout the game, gave Albion the lead.
Then Paul Forrest broke the offside trap to set Taj Singh up for a third goal, and with 20 minutes remaining Albion looked to be going through comfortably.
Chances followed to increase the lead but a disputed penalty put Nicosia back in the game and an equaliser came near the end of 90 minutes.
In the shoot out Nicosia put their third shot wide after Zoll, Singh and James Featherstone had put Albion 3-2 up. Nigel Beck then made it 4-2 and with the pressure on Nicosia Albion goalkeeper John Hawkes saved their fourth attempt.
In the fourth round of the West Riding County FA Sunday Cup visitors Towngate caught Fairweather Green cold with two goals in just over five minutes. But within the first 15 minutes Green's new striker Mick Burke had found the net twice with headers. Burke then went on to complete a first half hat-trick of headers and when he was pulled down inside the area Lee Summerscales converted the spot kick to see Fairweather go in half time 4-2 up.
Adie Howard, Greg Watts and Paul Exley added second-half goals to round off a superb 7-3 win.
A month out of action took its toll on Bradford Moor on their visit to Wakefield's Redoubt. Moor never really got started and after a disappointing performance made their exit to three second-half unanswered goals. Fairweather now meet Redoubt at home in the quarter-final.
Goalkeeper Richard Cornwall kept Bolton Woods in the game in the opening 15 minutes as Overthorpe produced early pressure, but at half-time Woods had gained a commanding 3-0 lead through Ian O'Grady (2) and Tony Rae. Overthorpe pulled a goal back and also missed a second half penalty.
Woods now face either Stanley Road or Linthwaite, who replay on Sunday after drawing 1-1.
A goal eight minutes from time looked to have sealed it for Road until Linthwaite grabbed an equaliser in the third minute of injury time.
In an outstanding West Riding County FA Sunday Trophy game, Holme Wood Athletic - apart from the opening 15 minutes when visitors Partizan took the lead - were always in control and ran out comfortable 6-1 winners.
Strikers Mark Warren and Robert Harrison both grabbed hat-tricks to set up a meeting with Pontifract side Nevison in the next round.
Dave Elvidge hit a brace as holders East Bowling Unity went through to the semi-final of the Bradford Sunday Alliance Senior Cup with a 3-0 win over Westwood.
Heaton can still achieve a league and cup double thanks to a 2-1 win over 2B pacesetters Waggoners in the fourth round of the Alliance Intermediate Cup.
Captain Asif Hussain levelled for Heaton after Waggoners had taken the lead and United were indebted to Jarif Hussain who kept the Waggoners' strikers at bay with a string of fine saves.
With the tie heading for extra time Andy Yates popped up to grab the winner for United.
Ring O'Bells booked a semi-final spot after beating 1A outfit Bank Top 4-2 with goals from Paul Rushforth, Simon Topp, Anthony Outy and Paul Morris.
Bradford Park Avenue also reached the semis following their 6-2 win over Buttershaw White Star, man-of-the-match Danny Brown leading the way with a hat-trick. Avenue's other goals came from Trinity Brown, Jason Nicoll and Andrew Wilson.
