A wool scouring plant is still planning to move out of the area despite having no luck finding suitable premises elsewhere.

Straume (UK) Ltd announced the move from Low Mill, Addingham, in November but the company's hunt for new premises has hit a stumbling block.

Bosses had aimed to move to the south of Bradford, but are now considering relocating to Dewsbury or Huddersfield. Group managing director Stuart Gait said: "We haven't seen anywhere yet. We have visited a number of possible sites but we haven't made any decision at this stage.

"We know this is the wrong site for us, but any move we make will have to be the right one.

"It will be a costly move and we are looking at Dewsbury and Huddersfield because that is where our customer base is." The £4 million wool scouring plant, which opened two years ago at Low Mill, is seeking bigger premises to incorporate its growing business.

The UK's oldest spinning mill is about 60,000sq ft and Straume is seeking a venue which is more than 100sq ft.

Residents, who were opposed to the site opening originally, still hold concerns about what will take its place. The Chairman of Addingham Parish Council, Coun Gordon Campbell, said: "As far as we know Straume has still not found any new premises. We are still concerned about what will happen to the site when the company leaves though."

The future of Low Mill has not been decided as planning restrictions and space are a problem.
