LOCAL clubs made progress in county competitions at the weekend. In the West Riding County FA Challenge Cup fourth round there were victories for Horsforth St Margaret's and Otley Town who have both been drawn away from home in the quarter-finals.
Fourth round results were: Shelf United 3, Lower Hopton 1; Storthes Hall 0, Silsden 1; Askern Miners Welfare 1, Springhead 1; Ovenden West Riding 2, Carlton Athletic 1; Pool AFC 0, Horsforth St Margaret's 4; Campion 1, Brighouse Town 1; Otley Town 3, Boroughbridge 1; Thorne Colliery 4, Aberford Albion 3.
The draw for the quarter-finals is: Campion or Brighouse Town v Ovenden West Riding, Thorne Colliery v Askern MW or Springhead, Shelf United v Otley Town, Silsden v Horsforth St Margaret's.
The above matches are to be played on the ground of the first named club on Saturday, February 2, kick-off 1.30 pm.
Extra-time to be played if necessary. Postponed and replayed matches to be played on, Saturday, February 9.
In the West Riding Challenge Trophy Otley Town Reserves and Rawdon Old Boys carry the Wharfedale flag forward after Town's narrow 5-4 win at Stanley United and the Old Boys convincing 7-2 win over East Bowling.
In the quarter-finals the Old Boys entertain Mailcoach from Westwood and Town visit Steeton Reserves.
These ties will also be played on Saturday, February 2, kicking-off at 1.30 pm.
The date of the next round of the competition is Wednesday, April 3.
