Steve Caldwell today reminded City there is still plenty to play for in the last three months of this season.

The Bantams aim to make it two wins on the trot by beating Barnsley tomorrow to open up some daylight from the relegation dogfight.

But Caldwell said nobody should be satisfied simply by reaching mid-table security.

The on-loan centre-half said: "With the quality players that are here we should be in a play-off spot and possibly even pushing for those first or second promotion positions.

"One way or another that's not happened so far. It's up to us now to at least start moving that way.

"If we can make the play-offs it would be great and you can't rule it out.

"But if we can't at least we should be progressing towards that direction for next season.

"When you are down the bottom and have the players we've got, you always believe it will come good sooner or later. And more often that not it does.

"But you can't allow yourself to get complacent and think there's no way you can drop to Division Two.

"Otherwise, before you know it March is here and you're still down there struggling.

"But another win and it's totally different.

"We'll have won two in a row and suddenly teams won't want to go to Valley Parade and play Bradford. Three weeks ago they probably fancied it - that's how this league swings like a pendulum."

Caldwell is relishing the chance to escape from Newcastle's reserves for a second month and expects better results than in his first spell under Jim Jefferies.

"We've been going through a bad time and obviously confidence hasn't been what it should be.

"But you could feel it coming back against Portsmouth once we got our noses in front and we started to play to our potential.

"But our attacking play speaks for itself. It's at the back where we need to tighten up a bit as the gaffer's been saying - if we can, then we'll really start moving on.

"Barnsley will be another massive game. Although in this division I don't think there is really a top-of-the-league team or a bottom one because anyone can win on their day.

"I just love playing regular football in a good team like ours who play the right way.

"I don't know what will happen when the loan expires but while I'm here I want to be part of getting us right back up that table again."
