Lack of cash is still a critical factor for the future of Bradford's Community Relations Council, despite public donations. But the prospect of an extra £1,000 grant aid from the Metropolitan Council - a sum which has already been recommended - should keep the organisation alive until the end of the financial year.

If every mother entitled to allowances of "welfare foods" accepted her full quota, then the Government would not be in a position to supply them all. This is revealed by an inquiry into the small number of mothers - only 31.3 per cent in the country and only 32 per cent in Bradford - who take supplies of the "welfare foods". Dried milk, cod liver oil and orange juice are supplied to less than one mother in three.
