It has been a miserable winter so far for Yorkshire's leading cyclocross riders, who failed to figure in the major events around the country.
But they nearly put everything right with a convincing series of wins in the InterArea Championship, at the Bradley Wood Scout Camp at Brighouse, where Yorkshire won the Open Championship as well as the veterans and women's title.
The individual winner of the senior event was former National Champion Steve Knight (Midlands). However, the West Midlands failed to provide a full team of six riders, and although Knight was the individual winner, he went away empty handed.
The top Yorkshireman was Noel Clough, the Pete Read Racing rider from Middlesbrough, who finished second, with Shipley rider Chris Young (Team Marie Curie) not too far behind in fifth place. Sixth place went to another Bradford rider, Rob Jebb (Team Ron Hill).
Among the women, Yorkshire number one Victoria Wilkinson won from Keighley rider Kali Taylor, while Sheffield rider Lynne Bird completed the winning team.
Yorkshire won the veteran's title led by another Bradford rider Ian Ferguson, who is better known as a fell runner.
