Jack Ferguson won the recent Keighley Angling Club match on the canal at Silsden.
With a net of mainly skimmer, bream and roach he collected a weight of 4lb 2oz to beat second placed Kevin James with 3lb 4oz.
A total of 24 people took part and six caught over 2lb. Results: 1 Jack Ferguson (4:02); 2 Kevin James (3:04); 3 Les Howard (3:04); 4 Eric Proctor (2:14); 5 Malcolm Barett (2:05); 6 Nigel Kendall (2:03).
Reports have suggested that the Boat Yard has not been fishing up to its usual standard although one angler hooked pike of about 10lb but was unable to land it. Last Sunday two anglers fished the Allotment stretch in the pouring rain and reported catching a total of 50 fish.
Reports have also been received of good Pike and Bream being caught on the Magnet stretch of the River Aire with nice Chub coming to the net at Steeton. Roberts Pond is also worth a visit for small Perch and Roach while several Jack Pike have been caught on frozen sardines.
Club books are selling well and the committee is looking for more fishing, particularly still waters. They want to hear from any members who have details of fishing which is available.
Club President, Lawrence Brocklesby, secretary Mr D Freeman and Geoff Trigg of Silsden have taken part in Martin James' 'Tight Lines' programme on BBC Radio Lancashire.
