COUGAR Under-13s continued their superb form with a 24-4 victory over a stubborn Ovenden side.

The confidence-boosting victory keeps them on track for their Challenge Cup final game in March and special mention should go to Richard Barr who played despite carrying an injury.

Luke Dowse scored a 60-yard try and Chris Thompson tackled like a man possessed. Mark Baker took the most improved player trophy and new signing Josh Lewis showed great promise.

Cougar Under-12s got back to winning ways, beating Odsal Sedbergh 18-0 in monsoon-like conditions.

Richard Leatham marshalled the forwards well with Danny Foster having a fine game. Danny Spencer collected a kick over the defence from Leatham for the first try and Ben Sagar finished off a fine passing move for their second. Joseph Copperwaite converted the second score.

After the break Danny Spencer had the final touch after a superb move which saw the ball pass through numerous pairs of hands. The second try went to wingman Chapman, who came in off his wing to wrong-foot the Odsal defence.

Special mention went to Matt Payne and Nathan Tomlinson, with Sagar being named man of the match.
