Slaithwaite Saracens 48
Silsden Park Rangers 10.
The Silsden Park Rangers mini revival suffered a blow with a 48-10 defeat away at Slaithwaite saracens in pennine league division three.
Rangers were caught cold by the saracens with a couple of early trys, before they made their mark on the game by clawing their way back.
John Williams and Phil Lane combined neatly to send in the outstanding Stuart McCrink wide on the right which was thoroughly deserved for a fine effort all afternoon.Paul Friars who was man of the match ,and John Williams ran the show for the cobbydalers although a few good oportunites were wasted in a purple patch for Rangers in the middle of the first half.
They did gain reward however when Phil Lane completely fooled the home defence with a 360 degrees turn at dummy half close to the line to plunge over for Silsden's second.John Williams converted and Rangers trailed only 18-10.
Rangers then lost effective prop Gus Eagan with mild concussion and with it a bit of momentum as Slaithwaite ran in a couple of trys before the break.
In the second half Silsden tried hard enough but seemed to be bogged down in a gluepot of a pitch.Player-coach Dave Webster and prop Brian Leach were silsden's best going forward but the home side were in no mood to let things slip and got to forty-eight with no second half reply for Rangers.A rare substitue appearance from club stalwart Neil Cullen was another second half highlight.
Despite the result though Silsden's morale is on the up with young guys like Stuart McCrink,Chris Sutcliffe and Ben Hutchinson all showing great promise for the future.
